Just say NO!

By now you know that food pyramid developed and pushed by our government is a train wreck and a sure fire way to a whole host of diet related health issues.  How would you reorganize the food pyramid?
WOD:   5-3-1 Press Day
First calculate 90% of your 1 rep max for the press. Use the conversion pages in your WOD books. This will be your “Training Max”. Write it down, this training max will be a very important number for the next month.

Now take 65% of your training max and complete 5 very strict and very controlled reps.
Rest for 2 Minutes

Now take 75% of your training max and complete 3 reps of the press.
Rest for 2 Minutes

Take 85% of your training max and complete as many reps as possible of the press.
Rest for 3 Minutes

Complete in whatever format you chose; 50 Ring Dips and 50 Strict Pullups

I know you…
I know you’re bigger, faster and stronger than me.
I know your Fran time is lower, your 5k is quicker and your deadlift is heavier.

I know you train in your temperature controlled gym with the tough sounding name while I’m training in garage exposed to the elements. I know your 1,000 YouTube views won’t mean shit in front of 1,000 spectators. I know when the heat goes up I go big and you go home.

Now that the mercury is finally starting to move, the box with be getting hotter. That means you will need to pay more attention to your hydration, and not just right after the WOD when you’re seeing stars. Check out this video on how improper hydration can hurt your game.

Push Press 5-3-1

These should be max effort presses.  Pick a weight you can press no more than five and so on.

rest as needed between sets

Weighted supinated chins (palms facing you)

Amrap x 3 sets with 10% of your body

Tabata Situps

20 seconds on- 10 seconds off for 4 minutes

Post your one rep push press load, max set of pullups and lowest number of situps

DINNER AND A MOVIE?

Crossfit Redline offers you dinner and a movie….no need to find a recipe for dinner tonight or a movie to watch….we have them both here for you!
Try this yummy Paleo meal!!!!  we made it the other night and loved it
Paleo Shrimp Scampi- Italian Style
Recipe:
1 lb. Shrimp, I used extra large tiger shrimp
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 shallot, minced
2 stalks celery, finely chopped
1/4 C white wine
2 T lemon juice
1- 14.5 oz. can diced tomatoes, no added salt
3 T flat leaf Italian parsley, chopped
fresh ground black pepper to taste
pinch celtic grey sea salt (optional)
2-3 tsp. olive oil
Heat olive oil in skillet, and saute garlic and shallots. When shallots are translucent, add celery and saute a couple minutes more. Add shrimp to skillet and add a tsp. more olive oil, if needed.
Cook at medium heat until shrimp is pink. Add wine and lemon juice. Keep at medium temperature and let the liquid cook down a little. Add canned tomatoes and Italian parsley, let simmer for about 8-10 minutes. Sprinkle with a little ground black pepper and grey salt.
I served this with some steamed broccoli, and a side salad. Serves about 4.
This is a satisfying, but pretty light meal! 1-1/2 C serving (about 5-6 shrimp) is only about 3 Zone blocks. Make sure to add some avocado, or almond slivers to your salad to keep that healthy fat content! :-)

And your movie (kinda of short but you will like it, watch it many times over!!!)

We’ll continue playing around with the WODs from the Sectionals competition this weekend.
Today you will have 10 minutes to find your 1 rep max on the clean and 1 rep max on the jerk.  You can use a rack for the jerk and there is no set technique for the clean. Anyway you can get it from the floor to your shoulders is fine.
Then rest for 2 minutes and…
